About this exam family

ACAS candidates move between probability, finance, statistics, insurance pricing, reserving, reporting and predictive analytics. This guide connects those subjects through the decisions an actuary makes with imperfect data. You will calculate event probabilities and present values, select models for claim counts and censored losses, turn claim experience into rate indications, and develop observed claims into estimates of ultimate cost. It also shows how to check whether a result is credible: compare assumptions with data, inspect model diagnostics, test sensitivity and explain uncertainty. U.S., Canadian and international reporting examples stay distinct, so a rule from one jurisdiction does not silently carry into another. Each worked calculation states its assumptions and interprets the result.
