About this exam family
A CPA/PFS must connect a client’s goals, cash flow, taxes, investments, protection needs and legal arrangements. A recommendation that looks attractive in isolation can fail when it changes the client’s liquidity, tax position or family plan. This guide follows the twelve major areas of personal financial planning and builds from gathering reliable facts to comparing choices and monitoring results. Each planned lesson centers on a decision rule or calculation and a resolved client example. All example figures are hypothetical; actual US tax limits, state rules and product terms must be checked for the year and jurisdiction involved. The PFS credential has several pathways, so this is a subject overview rather than a sample of one examination route.
